Republicans are fuming about President Joe Biden spending the New Year’s holiday on St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands as southern border crossings surge.

“President Biden’s dereliction of duty is on full display while he sits on the beach and ignores the thousands of illegal immigrants invading our country daily,” Rep. Randy Weber, R-Texas, told Fox News Digital.

“America as we know it will be unrecognizable unless this administration comes to the table, starts enforcing the laws and stops the flow of illegal immigrants,” he added.

Rep. Gary Palmer, R-Ala., chairman of the House GOP Policy Committee, told the outlet that Biden’s “entire presidency” has been a “vacation from reality.”

Congress reconvenes after its winter break on Jan. 9.

In recent weeks, some 10,000 immigrants a day have been traveling to the U.S. border.

Biden and his officials “should be ashamed” at the state of the U.S. migrant crisis Rep. Mark Alford, R-Texas, told Fox.

A top U.S. delegation on Wednesday met with Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador after he indicated that he’s willing to help address the recent surge of migrants looking to cross the Mexico border into the United States.

Mexican officials also this week bulldozed a tent camp that has held as many as 1,500 migrants in Matamoros, Mexico, near the Texas border

Border crossings in areas like San Diego, along with Lukeville and Nogales, Ariz., have been closed in an effort to curb migrants coming into the state.

“Texans are enduring some of the highest numbers of illegal crossings on record while the White House and Senate Democrats refuse to take action,” said Rep. August Pfluger, R-Texas.
